i was a director for NBC for 10 years until i was laid off back in may.
for the most part, this means nothing to the average viewer. most people watch via cable or dish anyway. so whether youre watching NBC network or the local NBC station, no one will really notice. the local affiliates will be forced to make their own programming, probably becoming 24 hour news networks. theres no way most cities can support more than two stations doing that, so the other stations will shrivel up and die.
